A popular dish in Kolkata. This is Payel's take on it. It is traditionally made with potatoes, but if you don't care for potatoes, try this method.
In a bowl, mix cooked black beans and some chopped cooked veggies (broccoli, peas and onions are great), spices (salt, chilli power, cumin, turmeric, garam masala, fried curry leaves in the ones below). Form into flat-ish balls (it helps if you squish the beans a bit with your hands first so they're creamy). Dip into a beaten egg and sprinkle with crushed up rye-vita cracker (or bread crumbs if you prefer). Bake at 400 degrees for about half an hour. Broil for a couple of min to make it a bit crispy. Serve with lots of hot sauce.
