Steel cut oats, symplax style

In a pot, put in 1/4 cup of steel cut oats. Add 2 cups water and 1/4 cup powdered milk. Also add pinch of salt. Let it boil, lower heat a bit so it's simmering. Slice a banana in there. Cook for about 25 min, stirring occasionally. Once it's reduced and creamy, put into a bowl.

Pro tip: if you want a roasted flavor like misugaru, toast the oats beforehand in a hot dry pan for a few minutes.
